Our Story
Barking Cow Farms is a family-owned and operated farm built on a lifelong love of animals and a dream of creating a place where families can make lasting memories together.
Our journey began many years ago on our small farm in Bear Creek, Alabama, where we raised horses, cows, and dogs. In 2014, our family moved to our 250-acre farm in Brilliant, Alabama, giving us the opportunity to expand our passion. We began adding sheep, goats, llamas, pigs, chickens, a variety of birds, and several breeds of cattle to our growing farm.
As our love for animals continued to grow, so did our dream. In 2019, we decided to share that passion with others by introducing exotic animals and offering mobile animal encounters throughout our community. Soon our farm was home to buffalo, zebras, camels, kangaroos, emus, and many other incredible animals.
Our original plan was to purchase land and build a family attraction somewhere else, but in July 2022 we realized the perfect place had been with us all along—our own farm. We rolled up our sleeves and got to work.
In just six weeks, we transformed part of our property by building a brand-new barn, installing fencing, creating a playground, digging a pond, planting pumpkins, and preparing everything for visitors.
On October 1, 2022, we proudly welcomed guests to our very first Pumpkin Patch.Since then, Barking Cow Farms has continued to grow into one of North Alabama's most unique family destinations. Every season brings new attractions, new animals, and new opportunities to create unforgettable memories.Our mission has always been simple: to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming place where families can slow down, spend quality time together, and enjoy hands-on experiences with amazing animals. Whether it's your first visit or your tenth, we want every guest to leave with a smile and memories they'll cherish for years to come.Thank you for being part of our story.
